Arne Slot defends Trent Alexander-Arnold after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Anfield with Manchester United
The Dutch coach insists the vice-captain is not affected by the concerns over his future.
The England right-back is a target for Real Madrid, who are in the final six months of their contract. And are open to signing a pre-contract with a foreign club.
Alexander-Arnold was up against Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, who struggled before being substituted for Conor Bradley late on.
“I don’t believe in the contract thing, but I think nine out of 10 people. Will tell you it affects him, but I’m one of 10 people. Who will tell you I don’t think it affects him,” Slot said.
“What affects him is that he has to play with Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, two of the best players from Portugal, who are great players. We have Diogo Jota, who is a great player, and he doesn’t even start for the team. He doesn’t play most of the time, so that shows the quality of Man United.”
“And if these players are as committed to the game as every Man United player showed in this game, it’s difficult to play against them.”
“It’s not like Trent only has to play with those two, because Ryan Gravenberch is there and he’s dueled with them nine times out of 10. But he’s had to face those two players one-on-one a lot.”
“I always tell you how difficult it is for other teams to go one-on-one with Mo Salah or Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and the other players we have. And these players have special qualities too.”
“That’s my opinion. เว็บพนันออนไลน์ UFABET สมัครง่าย โปรโมชั่นมากมาย Maybe everyone will tell you that it’s related to the rumors, but my opinion is different.”
“But obviously Trent has had some tough moments, as have our team, but for Trent it’s not the first time. I think the majority of the games he’s played for this club have been very good games.”
“But I wouldn’t believe someone who told me he’s never played badly for this club. It’s happened before and I think he’s faced a lot of quality players like Man United, especially in the position he’s faced.”
