Pep Guardiola has taken responsibility for his role in Manchester City’s recent slump and their failure to find the back of the net.

Defending champions and four-time Premier League winners Manchester City have had a dismal season. Winning just two of their 14 games before reviving confidence with a 2-0 win at Leicester City. Pep Guardiola has taken responsibility for his side’s failure to finish in the top five, คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย not the players themselves.

“It’s not the players, I blame myself.”

A number of factors could be cited for the demise, including a lengthy injury list. Ageing players passing their peak, a natural drop in intensity after years of domination and uncertainty stemming from off-field issues.

Yet City boss Guardiola, who has won 18 trophies during his glittering nine-year reign at the Etihad Stadium, feels the failure is on him.

The Catalan said: “There are many, many things (to being a manager) and I missed something, something I am not doing well.

“In the end, when you lose a lot of games, it is an incredible responsibility for the manager to take. There is something the team needs and confidence and I was not able to do it.

“The call is on me first, it’s not the players. They naturally drop a little bit and that is normal. It happened a little bit last season as well.

“I was the leader of the group and I couldn’t lift them up. That’s the truth. There was something I was missing. There was something I wasn’t good enough for.”

“When you lose a lot of games, the manager has a huge responsibility to feel something that the team needs to build confidence and I couldn’t do that,” the Spanish boss blamed himself.
